Chinese SKSs are much better than the Yugo ones, and judging by the prices I see here in Tacoma... you're getting a good deal. Norincos in general tend to be good rifles, I've owned a Norninco SKS and now own a Norinco 'MAK-90' AK-47 and the build quality is quite good.

I bought a Norinco about 2 years ago, then my son got one, a Yugo, then I got anouther for my other son , then anouther man in our team got one.. We all put druganov stocks on them, Was sort of a standard idea but just worked out that way, inexpensive, battle proven, easier to buy ammo in bulk thats forsure, I am always looking for the little guys that need a good home... like em....

I use solvent on most all of my weapons, and never had an issue with it degrading anything. I reken your good to go.

i own a china sks not a para i got it for 180 my friend got a para for 650 and he loves it better than his AK-47 and its not modded out so you got a @!%#*%* good deal.
can hoppes solvent destroy plastic i stilt it on my 45 xd

The SKS is a good weapon, period, end of story! It's really all a person needs, although I'm equally fond of many other rifles, and it's fun to endlessly debate the pro's and cons of them all.

By all means, take someone out to shoot a SKS!

that is a beautiful piece of wood and steel you have there. 150 is an awesome price. took my friend out shooting this weekend and now he loves my sks. i told him to get his own.

$150 for a Chicom SKS is a steal in my book. You would have a hard time picking up a Yugo for that these days, and the chicoms are going anywhere from 250-300 around these parts.

Gold Tiger is a better performing round, I agree with that, and as comparable as the price's are between that and Wolf your getting more Bang for your buck, scuse the pun. I think I saw it listed in shotgun news today for $180 for 1000 rounds, Im a big fan, lol.

SKSs are good deals no matter how you cut it. Ammo, strippers and a good way to carry the ammo is all you really need to have a basic defensive arm!

Still a good deal.

I have a "Paratrooper" Jungle Carbine, No.5 SMLE. !!! That's because when I got a No.5/Jungle carbine kit to transform a "sporterized" No.4 SMLE, the instructions said to cut the barrel to a certain length, which I did, then later realized that length was shorter than a "real" No.5.

However, I like it just fine, and you would probably have to hold it up next to a real No.5 to see the difference, which I think is only...

You are correct, I found out Saturday it is not a Paratrooper. It is shorter than my Yugo so I assumed that it was a Para Trooper. I saw a para at a gun show and realized I had made a mistake. The guy who sold it to me thought it was one as well. It is still shorter than my Yugo though. I still think I got a good deal. What do you think?

BTW is there a restriction on how much ammo one can have?

Pastor Kevin, are you sure that that is a paratrooper SKS? I'm just wondering because it looks a bit different than mine. Measuring the barrel I get 16 1/2 inches. Look at where the gas tube fitting is compared to the bayonet lug. My bayonet lug is right against the gas tube fitting and from the front of the gas tube fitting forward is only three inches of barrel.

Cabela's has Wolf 7.62X39, 1000 rounds for $190, this includes plastic military looking ammo boxes with gasket sealed lids, one per 500 rounds. The SKS handles this ammo with no issues to date in my experience. Shipping is a variable. Maybe there is a store within driving range of your AO.

Well I feel most fortunate to have obtain this little guy for 150.00 I felt it was a good deal.

This little guy shoots very good, and it is a great size for toting in my jeep. I own a security agency since I retired from LE and I take it in my patrol car when I am on duty. That's a good price for a chicom Simonov. I've been beating the bushes for a decent Simonov (Russian or chicom) for a while now, with no luck.

Around here, when you see one they usually run at least $250-$280 or more. Looks like you really lucked out.

As far as I know, a spare firing pin is about all you need to carry for an SKS. Don't know the best place to buy those.

I just bought a Norico Para Trooper SKS that came with a Tasco Scope. It has had the bayonet taken off but it looks almost new. I paid 150 out the door I haven't seen a para since 1993. Do you think I got a great deal or just an ok deal. I figured it was a great deal but I don't know a whole lot about the pricing for a Para.
