Any how, I have discovered a new kind of ammo can (or rather new to me) and since I have enjoyed it so much I figured yall would apriceate it too. The ammo can is the one the South African .308 comes in (the big flat one) all the ones I have still have a intact supple rubber seal and are rust free. They are great! I can hold 2500 + rounds of 7.62x39 ammo on strippers or 3000+ .223 on strippers (less if I put it in those bandolears). Any how I have about 8 of them and I am storing not only my ammo in them but a hurricane BOC (bug out can) and food too! OK maby im a little nuts but I thought they were neet. Operator Posts: 720 05/19/06 16:38:13 Moderator	Also, Do not forget about the Sportsman's Dry Box. Each box holds up to 1000 rounds of .30 cal ammo, depending upon size. You can also find empty and sizeable tackle boxes and tool boxes that will store ammo nicely. ST762

OK I ADMIT IT I have a fetish about ammo cans and more than one funny anecdote.....I keep reloading powder in a 25MM tall can. It is pretty static all the time. I keep bulk first aid supplies in matching regular size 50cal cans repainted flat white with red crosses. Bug out ammo is in wood ammo crates with rope handles. I keep ammo in 30cal cans for fast BO loadouts. I have a sweet WWII 50cal can for special purpose needs easily recognised by me and me alone. I have some food grade short barrels with handles with the obligatory 10" screw lid for my "ROBINSON CRUSOE" kits. Surely all of us read about shipwrecked Rob Crusoe. Between the initial shipwreck till his last swim out to the ship to salvage as much as possible before the ship finally slipped under the waves.....It's basically an 'EVERYTHING' kit. The barrel is 16" x 24" and crammed tight with MREs,entrees,MRE Bread,hard candy,toothbrush and paste,first aid gear,knife,spoons candles,matches,flint and steel,TP, electrical tape,rags,100R 22 ammo,pencil/paper,road flares,signal mirrors,whistle,wire,550 cord,16P nails,Hexamine,sterno,Bic lighters,stocking hat,space blanket,small mess kit,25R 12G ammo,fingerless gloves,bar soap/washcloth,clean sox,HD gallon ziplock bags,zip ties,MSAR yellow tube tent, dry tinder,dried beans/lentils/split peas/rice/canned meats/fish/kippered snacks/pilot biscuits/jam/soup base, bandannas,sheath knife,razor blades,cough drops,multi vitamins,chocolate bars,raisins,P38 taped to canned foods,HD sewing needles & simulated deer sinew, small survival books,smoke grenade,aerial distress flares,small flashlight w/extra batts JUST ANYTHING YOU CAN STUFF INSIDE.........

No its not so much a special needs kit as it is a "that sure would be nice to have" or "coulda used one of those" type of thing. Ever heard of Murphy's Law? Scenario: Lets say TSHTF. You're at home with your wife and kids. You receive a reverse 911 call. The recorded message tells you a fast moving forest fire is heading your way and will hit the edge of your neighborhood in 1 hour. Your evac route is wide open but you should bug out inside of 10 minutes. This is a MANDATORY evac NOT voluntary. This message repeats until you put down the phone. You give the wife and kids a fast heads up. Everyone brings out what they are supposed to and you start loading your BOV. Your supplies are thicker than your truck is big enuf to carry. In other words you have the equivalent of 4 truck loads of supplies and now your time is up. Now if you're like most people you may not do as well in a stressfull/crisis situation as you would like. You are bound to forget one or more critical items. My Rob Crusoe Barrels hopefully contain all or some of those items. Get the idea?
