RECRUITING |
Lead | ||
|
OK, guys. I've got an idea and I wanted to run it buy you to get some solid advice before I took action. I though about running a free add on backpage.com
to start a local KISSATA group. Having a background in advertising I know that keeping it short and simple is the most effective method but I want to highlight
the most important keynotes of recruitment into KISSATA. What do you guys think that should be emphasized and that will fit into a short paragraph with
bulletins?

Some quick things that pop into my mind are:
Anti-terrorist, Pro-LEO, Legally Armed Neighborhood Watch There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough
criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible to live without breaking laws. - Ayn Rand

I always found that being an all inclusive unit of equals was a big thing when recruiting here in my AO, everyone has the opertunity to learn, to teach, and
more importantly, to be a leader, both within the unit, and thier communitys. Also, I would stress the tolerance of all races and religons, because patriots
come in all colors and creeds, and this is America, where that type of principal needs to be embraced. Another thing, I would try, if you can, to create a
posative relationship with your local LEO, work in cooperation with them if possable. People will see this, and it will bring more people out of the wood work
than you might imagine. Its amazing how many people actually hide thier willingness to participate in this type of organization for fear of reprisal.
In peace, like a wise man, he appropriatly prepares for war.

When you get the wording right, share it here. I'd like to know what works for my own endeavors.
A Rifleman, but not a sheepdog.
Sheep can be controlled by the sheepdog for the same reason they fear the wolf - they are both predators. The same relationships hold with the general population, the police, and the criminals. Most people are sheep, but you don't have to be. If you have the skills and attitude of a predator the criminals will leave you alone- because they will recognize you as a predator and there is easier game available. |

Stay away from the highly popular buzz word of "yall" and yall, excuse me, you all should be fine.
I am of the thinking that word of mouth is the best advertising in this business but a carfully thought out marketing campaign could get some attention. Just hope its the right attention. I personally dont "advertise" with anyone already connected with other 'groups' if you know what I mean. -Sefus

Well, I recognize that using an open recruiting method such as this is sure to attract secret squirrel types so I will probably limit initial activity to email
communications until I can get to know the person I am dealing with. I also plan to direct them to this web page in the ad so they can pre-read what they are
getting themselves into before they sign up hopefully that will turn off the tin-hat and black helicopter crowd.

OK, I have posted the first ad so hopefully we will have an influx of Arizona members. The ad reads as follows:
"Are you interested in joining a militia but are turned off by the conspiracy theorist and tin hat types? I would like to introduce you to a new concept. KISSATA is a racially inclusive, pro-military, LEO friendly, no non-sense group of dedicated citizens. We believe in being prepared and self reliant in the event of any emergency. KISSATA welcomes people from all walks of life. We do not require military experience. We do not have a ranking structure and believe everyone involved is an equal. If you would like to know more about the principals of KISSATA you may go to the forum at: http://mscg.yuku.com/ I am currently recruiting for a new team based in the Phoenix Metro area if you are interested or if you would like to ask questions you may contact me via email through the ad." |

Please share your thoughts about the ad itself. What should be detracted? What did I forget to include? As an outsider what unmentioned keywords would draw
your attention? What points should be stressed? If this works we could copy and paste to free online Ad sites around the country and really get the concept out
there. Thanks for your input.

Crest wrote: My first thought is this is a good ad, but IMHO since I don't have much advertising background, there are a couple things I would change. First I would change the word "militia" to something like "civilian defense force" The word "militia" brings allot of negative thoughts to mind. IE the Freeman group, Skin heads, and so on. I would also write out "Law Enforcement" instead of using "LEO" some folks may not know what this means. I would also add something that says that KISSATA is not a religious based organization, Overall I think your ad is a good thing. JMHO, YMMV Longbow Edited to add, I would also direct people to the KISSATA web site http://kissata.homestead.com/ and they can find the forums from there.

Well, it looks as if our work has been in vain. I first posted the ad on backpage.com on 6/6/09 in the sporting goods section, which is dominated by firearm
sales, and it was removed within two hours. Obviously, I thought that this must have been a technical glitch so I immediately re-posted the ad the next day in
the special groups forum; this too was removed. After posting and having the ad removed for a third time I began to suspect that someone at Backpage.com does
not agree with the KISSATA concept. I cannot say that I am shocked but it doesn't say anything against our ad in their Rules & conditions. Well, better
luck elsewhere.
